Vale Press are really pleased to be helping “Community Awareness” in the North Cotswolds by providing Correx posters and signage for their next fundraising event.

On Sunday 25th June,  Strawberry Cream Teas will be served in the garden of Summers House, Todenham, Near Moreton-in-Marsh, GL56 9NG, between 2.00 and 5.00 pm.  (The Village Hall, if weather is bad).

The event is being held to raise money for ‘Community Awareness’ a voluntary group set up 7 years ago to help the children of low income families here in the North Cotswolds, who find it difficult to afford even the most basic necessities.

The families needing help are brought to the attention of ‘CA’ by professional agencies when all  normal state funded channels have been exhausted. Bedding, household goods, baby equipment, school clothing and shoes are provided when there is a family crisis and the money has run out. Sometimes the need can be for professional counselling when there are bereaved or abused children involved.  Mental health and poverty also go hand in hand, adding to the social problems children can suffer.

CA tries to alleviate some of the hardship these children face, through no fault of their own.

Providing work experience for the “stars” of tomorrow!

Vale Press are pleased to occasionally take on work experience students for a week or two to help give them an insight into the world of print and design. Recently we were pleased to welcome Tallon, a HND graphic design student from Evesham College, to spend some time with us.

Tallon learned about a whole range of printing techniques. He spent time in our litho printing division and in our digital and large format departments. Tallon even got the chance to work on a real-life design brief for one of our customers.

Work experience placements at Vale are a great opportunity for students to see the vast array of difference printed products we manufacture by harnessing print media and taking advantage of all the options available – with so many different substrates and print finishing methods available.

In recent years three members of staff have joined Vale after having undertaken their work experience here, including Jos’ Robinson, shown here (right) explaining to Tallon some of the finer points of print finishing processes involved in our large format department.

Come on you “Lions”!

Vale Press are delighted to be shirt sponsors to the Wychavon Wanderers Under 16s Youth football team for the 2016/17 season.

Wychavon Wanderers affectionately also known as “The Lions” play their home matches at Wickhamford Sports Club – and the players are drawn from Evesham, Broadway and the surrounding Vale of Evesham villages.

The club has FA Charter Standard Club status and the team plays in the Ambassador Evesham Under 16’s Pool B League, often travelling to far-flung areas of Worcestershire and the Midlands, such as Bromsgrove, Pershore and Shipston!

Vale Press Operations Director, Oliver Stowe, lives close to the team’s home ground and was keen to support the team this season: “I remember playing football in my younger days and know how important it is for youngsters to have the opportunity to play well-organised team sports. I wish everyone connected with “The Lions” – players, coaches, parents and fans – all the best for the season”.

The team play in orange/gold shirts – almost reminiscent of that other “Wanderers” team – Wolverhampton – one of the best teams in the country in the 1950’s!

70,000 Lego bricks to celebrate 900 years!

Vale Press is proud to be a sponsor of the 2017 Cirencester Abbey 900 festival. Vale Press handles the printing of literature and promotional material at a specially discounted charity rate and is delighted to be associated with a programme of events that will cater for all ages of our communities.

2017 is the 900th anniversary of the founding of the Augustinian Abbey in 1117 by King Henry 1st, which marked the beginning of the cultural and economic success of Cirencester and the wider Cotswolds, which continues to this day.

A group of likeminded people from all walks of the community including businesses, the voluntary sector, the arts community, the church and local people have got together to create a year long festival of over 50 events to celebrate the town’s history and to express their enthusiasm and confidence for the future of Cirencester and the Cotswolds.

The flagship fundraising event of the festival is the building of a Lego model of the Abbey using 70,000 sponsored bricks.

An incredibly varied programme of events will shortly be published, with more to be added during the year. Look out locally for copies soon – printed, of course, by Vale Press!
