Vale present Shakespeare Hospice with big blank cheque!

When Vale Press handed over our “big cheque” for £1780 to The Shakespeare Hospice (see blog of 15th December) to help support their fantastic work, they asked if we could produce a “blank cheque” for them to use for their own publicity photos when they receive a donation.

We were only too pleased to help!

Here is Adriana Geary of Shakespeare Hospice with the re-usable big blank cheque. We hope the cheque is used many times and the bigger the numbers – the better!

Calendar helps Scouts on their way to summer fun in Switzerland!

Many of us at Vale Press have children or grand children and know how difficult it is to fundraise to provide activities, entertainment and trips for our young people.

When possible at Vale, we’re happy to try and help.  So when our local 1st Chipping Campden Scouts approached us to help raise money for a trip to Switzerland by producing a Calendar of the children, how could we say no?

On a tight timescale and close to Christmas we helped by designing the calendar, planning out the adverts and printing it all within 6 days!

It was good to see so many other local businesses and customers also advertising in the calendar.

27 scouts and 5 leaders are off to Switzerland in July for an eleven day adventure and will be staying at the international scout centre in Kandersteg. The young people range from 10 to 15 years old and will partake in a variety of activities in the mountains. They will also meet other scouts from around the world.

We wish the scouts a fantastic time this summer and hope they sold out of the Calendars!

Hand over big cheque!

Vale Press were pleased to sponsor the recent Business Sporting Club Dinner in Stratford-upon-Avon where the guest speaker was Eddie ‘the Eagle” Edwards.

We were really keen to be able to nominate our local heroes at the Shakespeare Hospice as the charity to benefit from the raffle proceeds.

At Vale we’re proud to have the hospice as one of our print customers and so it was a pleasure to hand over our “big cheque” for £1780 to help support the fantastic work the hospice does.

Our thanks again to those who donated and in particular to Jean & David Duckham who organised the dinner.

40 Years of Dedicated Service!

On Tuesday evening local community leaders from Chipping Campden and the surrounding parishes of Willersey, Mickleton, Ebrington and Weston-sub-Edge gathered at The Old Court Room in Chipping Campden to express thanks to the Firefighters of Chipping Campden Community Fire Station, who are on call 24/7 throughout the year.

In particular, though, they wanted to recognise – on behalf of the local communities – the outstanding commitment and dedication of Andy Hillsdon, who recently retired after serving at Campden for an incredible 40 years.

It was calculated that Andy had actually been on standby/call for something approaching 250,000 hours.

When Andy started his service Jim Callaghan was the Prime Minister, Abba were No. 1 in the charts and most of the current firefighters team at Campden hadn’t even been born!

Cllr Shaun Parsons, Chairman of Gloucestershire County Council, thanked Andy on behalf of the County Council and the wider communities of Gloucestershire, and was delighted to present Andy with a Certificate of Appreciation.
