“An Evening of Song” – and all for the Wooden Spoon!

Vale Press are pleased to have sponsored the printing of the programme for “An Evening of Song” being held in the splendid setting of Cirencester Parish Church on Saturday 17th June. The concert features our good friends of Cirencester Male Voice Choir, together with Penistone Ladies Choir and The Blue Notes.

It’s a particularly special event because the chosen charity is “Wooden Spoon” – the children’s charity of rugby. Read more about their good works at www.woodenspoon.org.uk

Strawberry Teas to help “Community Awareness” in the North Cotswolds.

Processed with VSCO with g3 preset

Vale Press are really pleased to be helping “Community Awareness” in the North Cotswolds by providing Correx posters and signage for their next fundraising event.

On Sunday 25th June,  Strawberry Cream Teas will be served in the garden of Summers House, Todenham, Near Moreton-in-Marsh, GL56 9NG, between 2.00 and 5.00 pm.  (The Village Hall, if weather is bad).

The event is being held to raise money for ‘Community Awareness’ a voluntary group set up 7 years ago to help the children of low income families here in the North Cotswolds, who find it difficult to afford even the most basic necessities.

The families needing help are brought to the attention of ‘CA’ by professional agencies when all  normal state funded channels have been exhausted. Bedding, household goods, baby equipment, school clothing and shoes are provided when there is a family crisis and the money has run out. Sometimes the need can be for professional counselling when there are bereaved or abused children involved.  Mental health and poverty also go hand in hand, adding to the social problems children can suffer.

CA tries to alleviate some of the hardship these children face, through no fault of their own.

Providing work experience for the “stars” of tomorrow!

Vale Press are pleased to occasionally take on work experience students for a week or two to help give them an insight into the world of print and design. Recently we were pleased to welcome Tallon, a HND graphic design student from Evesham College, to spend some time with us.

Tallon learned about a whole range of printing techniques. He spent time in our litho printing division and in our digital and large format departments. Tallon even got the chance to work on a real-life design brief for one of our customers.

Work experience placements at Vale are a great opportunity for students to see the vast array of difference printed products we manufacture by harnessing print media and taking advantage of all the options available – with so many different substrates and print finishing methods available.

In recent years three members of staff have joined Vale after having undertaken their work experience here, including Jos’ Robinson, shown here (right) explaining to Tallon some of the finer points of print finishing processes involved in our large format department.
